I just booked my ticket to Mexico for next month, where I will be leading a retreat and spending extra time to finish my next book. I love that I have a location-independent business and I can work from anywhere in the world. It was a big dream of mine to be a successful author and entrepreneur and be able to help people all around the world.
It’s exciting to think that I am living the life I use to only dream about.
But it wasn’t always easy, the first few years of my business were pure struggle. Everything seemed like an uphill battle and my dreams weren’t manifesting as fast as I wanted. I felt like I was putting in all this effort but wasn’t seeing results.
Are you struggling to make a dream a reality? Does it feel like you are working really hard but not seeing the fruits of your hard effort? I’ve been there, but I have a process you can apply immediately to help you feel less stressed and turn your exhaustion into excitement.
Instead of working so hard and feeling like you aren’t getting where you want to be, try these three steps:
1. The more you you show, the faster your dream will grow.
You are unique and special. What you have is important, and the world needs you as you are. Instead of hiding your true self or biting your tongue, show more of you—your perspectives, your values, your dreams … share it all! The more authentic you can be about what you really want and who you are, the easier it will be to manifest what you want. The moment I chose to be more open and vulnerable in my writing, the faster my business grew. People want you for you, so be you and celebrate all of who you are.
2. Find a Role Model/ Mentor
I stress this a lot because it is so important. Working with a role model, or mentor, or life coach can take your dream and turn it into reality much faster. If you want to find romantic love, look for relationship role models, couples that represent qualities you aspire to have in your own life. If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, look at coaches, authors, or experts who show qualities and traits of what you desire. Aligning with people who inspire you will help you move forward much faster.
3. Take a Leap of Faith
The fastest way to get to where you want to go is to take a leap of faith. Jump, and the net will appear, is the famous saying, but really this message means that you learn the way on the way. Take steps, one moment at a time. Can you invest in that online training, or move to the city you keep dreaming about, or start writing the book that has been tucked in your heart for so long? Go for it. Take a step and watch your dream life unfold in front of you.
I’d love to hear from you. In the comments, answer the question: How can I show up more fully for myself by taking a leap of faith?
That’s right, it’s your turn to try it out. What leap of faith will you take in reference to your big dream and goals?
Go for it—the first step is to say it out loud.
I love this! Thank you! It’s an excellent reminder to find a place outside ourselves to gain clarity, remember beauty (inside all of us), and to be our authentic selves. I love hearing a bit of your story, and being able to celebrate with you, Shannon that this is the 6-year mark of leaving a soul-sucking corporate job! Yay!!!
I’m going through this now — coming from a profession where I was taught not to say anything about myself but really wanted to share my experience — to wanting to share about who I really am (and being nervous about this!) — and it’s so helpful to hear that as we are more truly our quirky selves, we will be more relatable, connecting with the people who can truly relate to us! I really needed this reminder today. Thank you, Shannon!
I have been truly inspired by this article. Thank you for sharing! U Rock!
