The Number One Way to Support Those You Love

Since I was 16 I’ve wanted to live and work overseas. I’ve come to the conclusion that my dreams matter and I need to live them now, not later. If you haven’t heard the exciting news, this year I’m spending six months in six different countries. I will work remotely running my business of life coaching/business mentoring, writing, and designing from Morocco, Germany, Hungary, South Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia.

I remember being really nervous when I told my parents I was planning on moving overseas this year. After all, I needed their buy-in to watch my dog, Tucker. I thought they would be sad or say, “No, we don’t want you to go,” but instead, to my surprise, they were super supportive and encouraging.

I told them, “Wow, I am really surprised how supportive you are,” and they both said, “We want you to be happy, and we know that when you have a dream, not following it is going against how you are. You owe it to yourself to follow your heart and live your dreams.”

I recognize how wonderful it is to have parents who support me. My parents taught me to always be true to myself by honoring my heart’s desires. They never told me no, it can’t be done—just that if and when I wanted something, I could find a way to make it happen.

We can all use a little more Yes-ers in our life. People who believe in us and support us. We all have dreams tucked inside our hearts, but we can’t make our dreams come true alone. But there is one very specific thing that you can do to support those you love, and it’s not what you think.
