The summer time is a perfect season for lazy afternoons, beach strolls and easy going laughter. But the bright breezy attitude of the season can inspire more than a change in fashion and your mood.
You can take the same carefree essence of the season and apply it to your living space. A home makeover for your favorite space could be a great way to bring the outdoors in.
Because I work from my home, my space is my sanctuary. I also find as a travel writer, when I return to my home after a trip it is up most important to feel welcomed and “at home.”
I find the more comfortable my space is, the more fun it is to hang out in. Here are my favorite tips inspired by the summer season, to liven up you home.
Jump into Jungle Fever
If you are looking for a little adventure, you can bring the exotic jungle to you. Many home decorators are splashing in animal prints to liven up their living space. Zebra’s strips pillows, leopard print shower curtains, and even wallpaper animal print. Whatever your animal instinct, you can add a dash of exotic mystery.
Dash of India
One of my bucket list countries is to visit India. But I don’t have to wait to go to this exotic sanctuary to feel like I have arrived. In fact I recently added some small icons of India to inspire a collective cool conscious vibe to my pad. Whether you have visited India or not, you can still use cues from this colorful place to help spice up your space. Today’s top designers are embracing the vivid jewel-tone colors and bold patterns beloved by maharajas for centuries.
Out with the Old into the New
You can be an organized queen and make your space shine. By simply taking an old item such as a BBQ grate and turn it into a flirty fun jewly holder. As shown by OrganiZEN.
Strip Down
I talk about the importance of stripping down and clearing out clutter in my book Find Your Happy.
Your space is a reflection of you, and when it is filled with clutter, you can feel crammed and stressed out. Take time to declutter your space and make room for new ideas to come in. You home furniture should be arranged in an open and inviting way.
Sanctuary
Having a go to place in your living quarters is important. I set up a min I sanctuary, with lavender candles, a mediation pillow and inviting crystal rocks. I also consider my bathtub a sacred space. This practice allows me to have a mediation moment every time I dip in. Having a place in your home for you and your own best self where you can have personal quit time can do wonders for your spirit and energy.
You can even rearrange your furniture or buy a new signature piece. I go to this furniture store Portland Oregon for unique and fun furniture.
