March is National Sleep Awareness Month, for the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my foolproof tips, relaxing rituals and mantras inspired from my forthcoming book that comes out March 11, 365 Happy Bedtime Mantras: Improve Your Sleep, Release Stress, and Enjoy Your Dreams (pre-order here).
Much of my professional work over the past fourteen years has been focused on mental health, psychology, and spirituality, and how these impact our overall well-being. In combining these sectors, I have learned a delicate balance where science meets grace and wisdom fuels experiments— I think we all need to approach our wellness in this manner.
It’s no secret that you are in an ever-evolving relationship with the most important person in your world, YOU! Wellness, self-care, and healing, is not a cookie cutter, one-size fits all approach, but there are and as a mind-set coach, I have seen clients continue to express their enthusiasm for mantras and tools to help them feel better each day.
Understanding how one area of our life could be impacting another, and that everything is connected, the whole mind–body approach to wellness is so important. To live well means we must focus on sleeping well. Subtle shifts, one evening at a time, can reap tremendous rewards for your overall well-being.
Mantras are a significant part of a good wellness routine and form the framework for this book. Mantras are like affirmations and intentions: they help to direct our focus.
In my new book I wrote the mantras to target several categories of sleep quality (relaxation, releasing stress, and enjoying dreams) while elevating your evening ritual.
Here are a powerful mantras and nightly rituals to help you sink into deep rest tonight.
Bedtime Mantra: I let go of the day.
Relaxation Ritual:
Create a let-go play list of music that inspires you. As you listen, write in your journal a list of all the things, people, places, fears, etc. that you are ready to release.
Bedtime Mantra: I express and address the needs of my inner child.
Relaxation Ritual:
Before bed, grab a pen and your journal, and connect with your inner child by writing or drawing a picture of a heartfelt message to your younger self.
Bedtime Mantra: Trust and peace are within me.
Relaxation Ritual:
Tonight, put a few drops of your favorite essential on a washcloth with warm water and put it on your face for a few minutes while you lay in bed. (Using an oil diffuser by your bed is another option.)
Bedtime Mantra: I shed the layers of stress and decompress
Restful Ritual:
Turn your evening face-cleansing routine into a mini spa-like facial. Wash away the stress in circular, slow motions, taking this time to be loyal and honoring to yourself.
Bedtime Mantra: I am a powerful creator of positive experiences.
Restful Ritual:
Before bed, jot down in your journal your day’s awesome moments, no matter how small.
