One of the most common questions I get asked as a transformational life coach is how do I get unstuck and find more clarity? Sure it’s great to know what you want and have lofty goals, but what about the majority of people who have no idea what they want? Today’s topic is for you.
What I’ve found is people are asking this because they really want to know, “What can I do that feels meaningful and important?” If you feel stuck and lack clarity ask yourself: what is important to you? What do you want?
When I was stuck in my corporate job in advertising and depression, I often said things like, “Why me? Why don’t I know what I want to do for a living? What is my life purpose?” These types of questions kept me stuck in a cycle of feeling hopeless. The questions we ask are sometimes more important than the answers we receive because they lead us to solutions we seek.
In my own journey, asking stronger questions became a key way to move forward. Instead of focusing on how stuck I felt, I started to answer key questions.
If you are stuck and want to find more clarity ask yourself these questions:
- When do I feel like my best self?
- Where do I feel the happiest?
- What did I love to do as a child?
- Who in my life brings me joy and makes me feel loved and supported?
- What do I value most in other people and myself?
- What inspiration, idea, or visions keep coming to me?
- When do I lose track of all time because I am so in the moment?
- Who inspires me by their level of passion and purpose?
- What do I want to be known for?
- If I could do anything in the world without worrying about time, money, or energy restrictions, what would I do?
By answering these simple questions you can start to get more clear about what you care most about. You won’t feel so stuck and you’ll find yourself loving with more passion.
