This time of year can be one of the most wonderful times, yet for so many it is one of the most stressful times. The holiday season can bring added stress and anxiety. The pressure to get everything done, the holiday parties and the work commitments can make it difficult to stay balanced. Maintaining a healthy self-care routine can be a challenge this time of year, and one of the first things that is affected is our sleep.
If your mind is racing with all the things you need to do and prepare, it will be hard to fall asleep. In fact, less than half (45%)* of those who adjust their sleep schedule feel refreshed and well-rested as they gear up for one of the busiest times of year.
Luckily there are simple things you can do that support a good night’s sleep.
The most surprising way to relieve holiday stress is to create a peaceful bedtime routine, which is why I put together my go-to tips for ending the day in a smart way.
Sure we’ve heard of the main wellness tricks, like essential oils, bubble baths or nice relaxing music, and these are all good but my blissed-out bedtime routine focuses more on feeling peaceful from the inside out.
Focus on a Strong Gratitude Practice
One of my favorite moments of the entire day is when I crawl into bed and wrap myself up in my cozy blanket. I love this moment because I take time to reflect on my beautiful day and I focus on gratitude. I list the things that I appreciate, including my bed and health, and focus on an intention as I wind down. I even pull a mantra from my Find Your Happy Daily Mantras card deck and book. This is a great way to relax the mind and wind down the body.
Get Good Sleep
This season I added Nature Made Good Sleep Gummies. The Dreamy Strawberry flavor makes them fun to take, and the melatonin and L-Theanine naturally support restful sleep†. It’s helpful to have a routine when going to bed. Not only do I now sleep well, but also my entire day is so much more balanced and productive. All because I am taking care of myself at night too. Our self-care routine isn’t just what we do in the day, but when we sleep too. What’s your go-to tip for a peaceful night’s sleep?
Get Soothed and Smoothed
I recently discovered rose water, which is calming and soothing, making it an ideal ingredient for skincare and a room spray. I spray Lush Rose Jam over my bed a couple times, then hop in for a dreamy night sleep.
Meditate
One of the most peaceful ways to balance the mind and heart is with meditation. I do daily meditation right before I go to bed. I either listen to Abraham and Esther Hicks on YouTube, or I download one of my own tracks from my albums. I created meditation tracks to help you feel more peace and connect to your true self. You can check them out here.
Creating a bedtime routine, especially this time of year, will help you feel more balanced and stress free. Because when we sleep better, we live better. Tell me in the comments how you support good sleep. What’s your favorite bedtime routine?
