A Prayer for Discernment

Many of my coaching clients and friends have shared how it feels like an emotional roller coaster lately and they tend to judge themselves or their feelings. But I believe our emotions are powerful alignment tools. They are not something to resist or push away. All emotions also hold vibrational frequencies. They are powerful guides to shift us into a higher, more balanced state of being.

I used to do everything but feel my feelings. I would hide my feelings, push them away, and deny their value. I did this by overeating, overworking, overspending, over-exercising, isolating, using drugs, trying to maintain control through my eating disorders, and escaping in any and all ways possible—my feelings were frightening. But once I realized they are healing tools, I started to embrace them. Jess King, a self-love advocate and Peloton fitness instructor, says emotions only last five to six minutes max. If you can hold on and then ride it like a wave, you can always move through it. And sure enough, this was my experience too.

Our emotions are gifts, when we accept them to be our guiding light, they lead us to our truth.

We aren’t taught how to express ourselves through emotions, but this is built into our DNA and human function. In fact, society will often tell you to hide your feelings, such as “Suck it up,” “Big girls don’t cry!” “Be a man, don’t show emotion!” “Don’t be such a baby.” This common vernacular gets drilled into us at a young age and disconnects us from experiencing the real raw human experience. But we have it backward.

Our emotions are gateways to our higher self and divine connection to source energy.

As I shared with MindBodyGreen in a recent article “There are no bad feelings—it’s all energy that wants to move forward.” “When we feel anxious or stressed, this is simply energy that wants to move through us and be released.” Recognize when we’re moving through dense, heavy emotions we can let them go which will lead us to a higher frequency. All emotions are really just tools for deeper understanding and alignment. Feeling them and embracing them is the ultimate act of self-love.

When processing your feelings, always ask, “Will this bring me peace, or take away my peace,” and make choices from the place that helps you feel most whole. And if you don’t know which choice is best, you can always say this prayer.

A prayer for discernment
Dear Source, Love, God, Divine Light
Please guide me to the path of least resistance and optimal alignment. Please help me see the truth and connect to the outcome that is for the highest good of all involved.

I’ve had this article as unread in my for weeks, since it came out. Unconsciously, I knew the title would have a powerful message for me, but I just never seem to be in a mood, or state of mind or have time to read it until today, NYC, 4:15am, 07/22/21.
Shannon, no words can express how powerful you’re messages are, and how they always reach me in perfect time when I feel lost, defeated,or hopeless.
    Thank you
